Install Redis in Ubuntu 12.04

Redis is an open source, networked,in-memory, key-value data store with optional durability. Let us try install redis in ubuntu 12.04.

Downloading Redis

Download redis by executing the following command

$ wget http://redis.googlecode.com/files/redis-2.4.15.tar.gz

Installing Redis

To install redis, execute the following command

$ tar xzf redis-2.4.15.tar.gz $ cd redis-2.4.15 $ make

Verification

To verify redis installation, run the following command

$ make test

When everything goes right, You will see this.

\o/ All tests passed without errors!

To Start Server

To start the server, execute the below command

$ src/redis-server
